Murray County Schools Case Study

How it started

In May 2020, the district started using Google Workspace for Education district-wide. However, Adriane Ellis, Instructional Technology Director, had the same problem most in her position had in the Spring of 2020: How would she train everyone in the district on Google tools?

Before MobileMind, the district created and updated their Google training and shared it through Google Classroom. However, there was no way to track participation or skill competency. “When we first met with MobileMind, we realized that what MobileMind offered was exactly what we wanted to do, without realizing that’s what we wanted to do.”

Adriane explained that seeing who has completed courses and what teachers are interested in learning on their own time has been significant in her role. She added that the big win for her was having Google courses already created and updated for her, “MobileMind does the work that I don’t have to do.”

"I don’t know if I would have survived these past two years without MobileMind."

It didn't stop there...

Next, Murray used the power of MobileMind to create micro-courses and learning paths for their transportation department. As a result, they are now using a learning path approach for specific roles throughout the district and new teacher onboarding.

Murray completed a survey with the new teachers from the 21-22 school year and asked what they felt were essential training topics for first-year teachers. The district responded by building a “New Teacher Academy” learning path for new teachers for the 22-23 school year that included those topics. Now new teachers at Murray can complete micro-courses on things like their SIS, how to schedule a sub, how to create a help desk ticket, or, as Adriane put it, “on everything from personal finance to curriculum.”

"MobileMind was a no-brainer for us to help us streamline our training."

A new way

Now Murray County also uses MobileMind for succession planning. Like with many districts, when leadership turnover was increasing, Murray needed to train on using their SIS from other roles' perspectives. Now learning paths are being created based on roles to help employees move up in the district.

For onboarding, the district will continue to use MobileMind going forward. “We have not heard one negative thing about it,” stated Adriane. “Teachers like that it is delivered in bite-sized chunks, and the micro-courses help them from becoming overwhelmed.”

“With everything consolidated, MobileMind keeps us on track for what we need to deliver to any learner.”
